Situated twelve miles to the north of the stunning and historic market town of Hexham in Northumberland, lies the charming village of Wark, and in it the delightful Black Bull Hotel. Surrounded by the glorious rolling countryside of the upper Tyne Valley, and in close proximity to the waters of the River Tyne, Hexham, Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland National Park, Kielder Water, and the Borders, Wark is a quiet and utterly charming village with a lot of history behind it.
Once, the historic capital of Tyneside, the village of Wark is remarkable for having a grand Town Hall rather than a village hall. It's earliest beginnings can be traced back to the Roman occupation of Britain, then the Norman conquest of the British Isles by William the first of England and his followers from France,
The village of Wark is today as tranquil and charming a place as you would hope to find, and makes The Black Bull Hotel the perfect location for visitors to the area. With great countryside, it's heavenly for cyclists, anglers, hikers, ornithologists, wildlife enthusiasts, horse riders, and lovers of country pursuits. The Black Bull is situated on the Reivers Cycle Route, and has excellent secure facilities for bikes and equipment.
Joanne and Darren extend a warm Northumbrian country welcome to all their guests at the Black Bull Hotel. Dating back to the 12th century, The Black Bull has a great selection of six lovingly decorated rooms, each one with an en-suite and a stunning period fireplace, plus those little personal touches that make it a home from home.
Your room will be well appointed and have a TV, alarm clock, toiletries, fluffy towels, hairdryer, and a selection of complimentary hot beverages. Naturally a full Northumbrian breakfast is included in your stay, with all the produce sourced locally. Should you have special dietary requirements just let Joanne or Darren know when you book, and they'll be delighted to help.
At the end of a busy day, relax in the convivial atmosphere of the Black Bull's friendly bar, dining room for a great meal, or beer garden, chat about your exciting adventures, and plan the next.
